Introduction

Royal Zambezi Lodge is a privately owned safari lodge located in the Chiawa Game Management Area just outside of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia.  On the opposite side of the river lies Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe. Access is either by 4×4 from Lusaka or with commercial charter flights from either Livingstone or Lusaka.

Accommodation consists of 15 luxury tented chalets, of which 8 are Classic Suites, 4 Deluxe Suites and 3 Presidential Suites.  This 5 star lodge is set on a 200ha private concession with 3.5km of private river frontage.  There are no faces bordering the concession and wildlife is free to traverse throughout the property.

Due its amazing location and proximity to the Lower Zambezi National Park this is a choice destination for wildlife enthusiasts, fishermen, nature lovers, birders and photographers.

Fishing is excellent from Royal as you have direct access to fish within the protected waters of the National Park.  Netting and commercial fishing is better regulated in the park giving one better opportunities of catching Tigerfish, Sharptooth catfish, Vundu. Chessa, Nkupi, Red-breast bream, Cornish Jack and many other species.

Wildlife viewing is excellent and one can expect to see large herds of Elephant and Buffalo, Lions, Leopards, Hyena, Side-striped Jackal, Waterbuck, Kudu, Eland, Reedbuck, Sable, Impala and much more. Elephants and Buffalo are often seen crossing the river to get to Islands to feed on greener pastures.  Wild dog are also present but can not be guaranteed.

The surrounding landscapes, flora, Zambezi River, general wildlife and birdlife make this a photographers paradise.

Birdlife consists of over 300 species of bird.

The guides are well trained and extremely knowledge in all facets and can assist professional service for enthusiastic fly-fisherman, avid fishermen, photographers, bird twitchers and general wildlife enthusiast’s.
