Enjoy the experience of a lifetime and witness one of the world’s largest mammal migrations. One of Zambia’s smallest national parks, Kasanka National Park is a remote swamp, but between October and December each year it plays host to one of the world’s largest mammal migrations. Over 10 million Giant Straw Coloured Fruit Bats arrive from the Congo forest to feed on the fruits of the Kasanka Mushitu Forest. Spend three nights in Kasanka National Park – birding during the day and witnessing this wildlife spectacle from the bat platforms as the sun sets each evening.
After this, a short drive to the north will take you to the home of the ‘Swamp King’, the African Shoebill in the land where “the water meets the sky – Bangweulu Swamps”. Spend two nights in Bangweulu, where you will be given the opportunity to try and find – among others – these interesting prehistoric-looking birds that reside in the swamps amongst the rare and endemic herds of Black Lechwe and Sitatunga,
